I brought my elderly mother to Dr. Rubinoff for implants and upper and lower prothesis after he provided outlandish glowing promises about his planned work. What a disaster this turned out to be. Dr. Rubinoff completely misrepresented his very expensive teeth and I ended up loosing $31,279.46.
Dr. Rubinoff was sweet as pie when attempting to sell my mother and I his services, but once he was paid and the work had started, he became arrogant and tyrannical. For instance, Dr. Rubinoff had offered to include a free customized night guard during his sales pitch, but after he was paid, he claimed that my mother should not use a night guard, so he did not fabricate one, nor did he apply the account credit as promised. When I complained about this deception, he agreed to apply the credit as promised, but only if we brought him more business. How devious! In another incident, I asked for an X-ray showing that one of the implants he inserted was slanted, but he refused to provide the X-ray. He even refused to provide a reason for refusing – he bluntly and arrogantly simply refused – which is unequivocally prohibited according to malpractice regulations in Ontario. (He wrote in his email reply to my request: “I do not give out any chart information concerning ongoing treatments to my patients unless they have lost confidence, abandon treatment and are attending another doctor’s office.”)
As for Dr. Rubinoff’s handiwork…on two separate occasions when chunks of denture material snapped off, causing my mother to almost choke (one of the dentures was my mother’s old denture which Dr. Rubinoff sloppily patched up for temporary use, and the other was his brand new denture – chunks broke off of both of them as soon as they were used). When I complained about his sloppy blotched work, he had to nerve to blame my mother’s bite for the denture cracking!
Dr. Rubinoff’s handiwork also resulted in an ugly metal protrusion glaring out the front of the teeth.
Everything Dr. Rubinoff told us during his sales pitch turned out to be a massive, deceptive, misrepresentation, and my mother cannot stand her new teeth by Dr. Rubinoff.
These problems aside, my mother’s treatment was disrupted by a fight which Dr. Rubinoff had with his previous clinic (at Sheppard Yorkland Dental Clinic) which resulted in his departure from the clinic and a lengthy period of absence before he set up at his new location at Bayview Village Mall.
I can’t believe how deceitful and inept this dentist was with us – a horrible disaster from beginning to end. I have filed a complaint with the Royal College of Dental Surgeons. To be fair, I wish to be clear this review is MY OWN PERSONAL OPINION, ABOUT ONLY MY OWN PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, and NOT about Dr. Rubinoff’s practice in general, which may be full of satisfied patients, NOR the other dentists in his clinic, who may be well qualified.
